Welcome to the Route #125 Travel Agency! We are so excited about the facts we've learned and fun we've experienced in the Northeast region and as we move onto the Midwest. Our Route #125 travelers become travel AGENTS once they have fully explored each region. They want to pass along facts, tips, and tricks for traveling across our great nation. For each region, students will create a PPT presentation full of facts, examples, pictures, and videos. They also have the option to create a green screen video recording of their FAVORITE TOURIST HOT SPOT from that region. The final video will be part of their PPT to present to tourists who come to their travel agency looking for vacation advice.
If we know common prefixes, suffixes, and root words, we can break apart and chunk almost ANY WORD to figure out exactly what it means! We will start with the MOST COMMON of each, and then work our way through more complicated word stems until we're VOCAB MASTERS!

Changes in SettingIn many books, setting changes from scene to scene, having a significant impact on the text meaning and outcome of the story. Take notes on setting changes in the beginning, middle, and end of the story, An Angel for Solomon Singer. For each part of the story, comment on how the change in setting impacted the story. You've learned about specific and proper nouns, capitalization, adjectives, and punctuation. These elements all make our writing much better, like the famous authors in our mentor texts. This week, you'll learn about STRONG VERBS, TRANSITIONS, STRETCHING SENTENCES, & EDITING FOR FOCUS. Add TransitionsAfter Mrs. Petlak's mentor text read aloud, use the chart of transitions to help you combine the choppy sentences into longer, smoother sentences connected with transitional phrases.
